Coolpad has launched the Coolpad Cool Play 6 in Nepal after a long wait. This is the phone of flagship caliber specifications. It is tagged as “Extreme Game Machine“ by the company. Coolpad is marketing this phone to gamers, heavy users, and content consumers. The current official Coolpad Cool Play 6 price in Nepal is Rs 31,996 at launch. Cool Play 6 offers some great hardware and experience that almost no other phones offer right now. Coolpad Cool 1 was a hit phone and now the crown goes to Cool Play 6.
This is a very interesting new phone in the Rs 30K ($300) price range. Cool Play 6 is packing a Snapdragon chipset, Adreno 510 GPU, 6 GB RAM, dual cameras, 4K recording capacity, and 1080p screen. The design is classic but the specs are quite new and it does offer some good value to the users. As told by the company, this is a gaming-focused mobile phone for Android gamers. Now let us discuss the specs in depth.

Design and Build
Coolpad Cool Play 6 has a full metal unibody construction with rounded edges and flat sides. The back of the phone has a vertical camera island with two cameras and an LED flash at the side. Below that there is a fingerprint scanner and at the bottom there is the Coolpad logo. On the front side, Cool Play 6 has a screen, earpiece, and sensors. The top side has a headphone jack, the bottom side has a USB port and speaker grill, the left side has a SIM card tray and the right side has a volume button and power button.
Core Internal Hardware
On the inside of Coolpad Cool Play 6, there is a Snapdragon 653 Chipset with an octa-core processor and Adreno 510 GPU. The processor includes one 1.5 GHz quad-core and another 2 GHz quad-core set. Coolpad Cool Play 6 is running with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage. There is no external memory card support so 64 GB is ceiling. This is very little for a phone with 4K video recording capability and a phone that is targeted toward gamers.
The back side comes with fingerprint sensor and non non-removable 4060 mAh battery. A 4060 mAh battery is respectable size for 5.5″ screen and powerful processor but the company could have added fast charging to make it a better gaming device. For connection, Coolpad is using USB Type C which is good and we encourage others to make it standard as well. Coolpad Cool Play 6 is running on Android Nougat but we have confirmation of Oreo update soon from Coolpad Nepal officials.
Display and Cameras
At the front, Coolpad Cool Play 6 has a 5.5” 1080p IPS LCD screen with FHD 1080×1920 resolution. There is an 8 MP f/2.2 front camera at the top of the screen which can record 1080p videos and take good quality selfies. The metallic back side holds dual 13 MP f/2.0 cameras the first is a normal camera and the second one is a B/W or monochrome sensor for details and depth. This back camera setup can record UHD videos at maximum settings. The back side also includes dual-tone LED flash for better color in photos taken with flash.

Impressions and Analysis
Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a mid-range phone with a premium build and challenging specs. It has 6 GB RAM, a Snapdragon processor, a 1080p display, a metal body, dual cameras, and a 4060 mAh large-size battery. Very few phones in this price range have 6 GB RAM and a 4K recording supporting cameras. At the current price tag, almost no phone provides 6 GB RAM. With 6 GB RAM and a faster processor, users can enjoy high-demanding applications smoothly. Multitasking won’t break a sweat on this device.
It has sufficient memory but internal storage is small and SD card support would have been great. Gamers and media consumers need more space for files, movies, videos, and music, but there is no SD card support. The camera section also offers a satisfactory wide aperture and decent features like HDR. 2160p video record support and high-resolution stills are the additional deal makers for Coolpad Cool Play 6.
We appreciate Coolpad doing all this at this budget. The battery size is also big enough to run the FHD display for an entire day. But the life will certainly depend on use. Considering every point including price, hardware, software and features Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a very good offering. For color options, only Gold and Black color variants are available for the Nepali market right now at release. Coolpad is serious with the competition now and this phone shows the game.
