Gionee A1 vs A1 Lite vs A1 Plus

Gionee launched three A1 series phones on 2017. These phones are new mid range smartphones from them. Gionee is well known Chinese manufacturer which produces budget and mid range phones. They are keeping up with new technology, features to keep up with market. The A1 series is the new addition to their portfolio this year. They have A1, A1 Lite and Plus edition.

The names are very similar which can cause confusion. Price and hardware are different for each models. People need to know before deciding which phone to buy. In this article, we are going to compare all hardware specs of each phone. The features also differ from each other.

There are some common ground between these phones actually. All three phones have 13 MP f/2.0 camera at the back. The plus variant has a bit advanced back camera setup with 2 sensors actually. All phones have screen size bigger than 5” also. They lie in phablet category mostly.

Lets simply start by comparing specs of each phones in the tables.

20 MP f/2.0 (Front) 16 MP f/2.0 (Front) 20 MP f/2.0 (Front)

We can see that each phone has different chipset, processor, GPU, display, battery and much more. Gionee uses Mediatek chipset but many tech enthusiasts want Snapdragon. The battery size is above 4000 mAh in each phone which is nice. All variants of A1 also have 3 GB RAM minimum which gives good multi-tasking head room.

In the processor department, the Lite edition has simple octa core processor but A1 and A1 Plus have a bit different setup. They consist of two quad cores sets. One is high powered and next one is low powered. The Plus model has quad core chips clocked at higher frequency than the normal edition. A1 has 2 GHz and 1 GHz quad core sets while A1 Plus has 2.5 GHz and 1.4 GHz sets.

A1 Lite has 5.3” HD IPS LCD which is good in quality but 5.5” FHD AMOLED panel of A1 is fantastic. We expected to see AMOLED in A1 Plus as well but we couldn’t. It would have been nice to see at least higher resolution in 6.0” panel in Plus model.

All the phones have 13 MP f/2.0 sensor but A1 plus has dual camera with one extra 5 MP lsensor. They all can shoot 1080p videos at max with high resolution and take crispy stills too. Many manufacturers including Gionee are focusing on Selfie these days. Only A1 has 16 MP front camera while rest two have 20 MP camera.

In the global market, A1 Lite is cheapest then comes A1 and finally we have A1 Plus at top. The Plus is a very big model with large screen and a huge battery. All phones run on Android 7.0 which which gives these phones good battery saving feature and security.

These phones are highly selfie focused and great investment on hardware is gone. So we can say more part of money goes on camera section. Selfie focused target is mainly ladies because we find men less interested in selfies but they are interested in back camera. Some might be in vlogging but that is not widely a case.

All three phones have Fingerprint scanner, compass but fast charging in not in Lite edition. These phones run on Mediatek chipset which may get hot during very heavy use. The camera pixel count is aslo very high which provides high resolution, detailed images and videos. But the thing to notice is aperture size also. These aren’t very wide so they suffer in low light by showing lots of noise.

Gionee A1 series is seriously meant for people who want entertainment, music, video, internet browsing and some gaming. The big screens provide enough real estate to enjoy and high pixel count front camera also provide great selfies. Surely, we get good hardware but still people need to assess what they prioritize and they want before choosing one of these.
