Honor 8S Launch Event in Nepal

Honor Nepal has launched the new Honors 8S in Nepal. This is their new budget range smartphone for the masses. It came to the international market in April. However, we are getting this phone in July. This is a basic model smartphone but it has quite a good amount of features. The launch event was hosted at Hotel Akama and we also tested the device. Here we want to share experience and impressions with you. For the cost, the Honor 8S price in Nepal is Rs 12,500.

In the event, there was a presentation from Honor’s director for Southeast Asia, Mr. Akim Li as well. Other company officials also gave some presentation. Finally, there was the unveiling of the phone. Kratos Technologies Pvt. Ltd is the distributor or Honor Mobiles since the start. They are doing the distribution and sales. There are price revisions for older models as well. We have thus updated our latest Honor mobiles price in Nepal list.

For now, Honor 8S is their new entry-level offer and predecessor of Honor 7S. This phone comes with a quad core processor, HD screen, 13 MP back camera, and 5 MP front camera. The features are quite impressive for a phone of this price. In our experience after the launch event, we found that the camera has a very good pro mode. That is a very rare thing in a budget smartphone.

Honor 8S Specs

  • 5.71 inches IPS LCD display with dew drop notch
  • 720×1520 screen resolution

  • 3020 mAh battery
  • 13 MP back camera with f/1.8 aperture
  • 5 MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture

Honor is giving a full view display with dew drop notch at the top. The screen resolution is 720×1520 and it has TÜV Rheinland certification. This means it is better with the eyes because it produces less blue light. Inside there is MediaTek MT6761 chipset or Heli A22. This SoC has a 2 GHz quad-core processor. 4 cores a minimum these days and as this phone is of entry-level, it passes the check. Currently, the company is launching the 2 GB RAM model with 32 GB storage.

In case of the battery, the Honor 8S packs 3020 mah battery which is good for a phone with 4 core processor. The screen is quite big so there is one thing that can hog the battery life. It also depends on workload, task type, and screen usage. One of the best things about this phone is the camera. We like the fact that there is a 13-megapixel f/1.8 camera at back and 5-megapixel f/2.2 camera at the front.

The f/1.8 aperture is very wide and it can take brighter low light shots and photos with good shallow depth of field. The best thing is the inclusion of Pro mode in the back camera. It is very customizable and we enjoyed it. There is a lot of flexibility and a good user can take great pictures with it. There is no fingerprint sensor on this mobile. Therefore the front camera helps in face unlock.

Impressions and Wrap Up

The Honors 8S price in Nepal has put this phone in a very interesting position. It now competes with many budget range smartphones inthe Nepali market. In the launch event, the company made a comparison of 8S with Xiaomi Redmi 6A and some Samsung phones. They claim it has better specs and quality. We do give them credit for the good camera actually. We really enjoyed playing with pro mode. The camera is good in specs as well because the back module has f/1.8 aperture. This is very good for a phone of this price tag.

Overall, Honor 8S comes with a plastic body build with a big 5.71″ full view screen. It has a 12 nm quad-core processor and a decent amount of RAM. It also comes with a battery of reasonable size and has the latest software running. This is an entry-level mobile but there are quite many good features. There might be few hiccups sometimes but in general, the hardware value provided by the handset is pretty good.
