This SoC has a 2 GHz quad-core processor. 4 cores a minimum these days and as this phone is of entry-level, it passes the check. In case of the battery, the Honor 8S packs 3020 mah battery which is good for a phone with 4 core processor. The screen is quite big so there is one thing that can hog the battery life. It also depends on workload, task type, and screen usage. One of the best things about this phone is the camera. We like the fact that there is a 13-megapixel f/1.8 camera at back and 5-megapixel f/2.2 camera at the front.
The f/1.8 aperture is very wide and it can take brighter low light shots and photos with good shallow depth of field. The best thing is the inclusion of Pro mode in the back camera. It is very customizable and we enjoyed it. There is a lot of flexibility and a good user can take great pictures with it. There is no fingerprint sensor on this mobile. Therefore the front camera helps in face unlock.
Impressions and Wrap Up
The Honors 8S price in Nepal has put this phone in a very interesting position. It now competes with many budget range smartphones inthe Nepali market. In the launch event, the company made a comparison of 8S with Xiaomi Redmi 6A and some Samsung phones. They claim it has better specs and quality. We do give them credit for the good camera actually. We really enjoyed playing with pro mode. The camera is good in specs as well because the back module has f/1.8 aperture. This is very good for a phone of this price tag.
Overall, Honor 8S comes with a plastic body build with a big 5.71″ full view screen. It has a 12 nm quad-core processor and a decent amount of RAM. It also comes with a battery of reasonable size and has the latest software running. This is an entry-level mobile but there are quite many good features. There might be few hiccups sometimes but in general, the hardware value provided by the handset is pretty good.
