Internal Hardware Details
Under the crispy HD screen and below the metallic back we have a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery. For software, the device is running on the latest OS Android 6.0 Marshmallow. If we assume the update trend, it might get the new Android Nougat update soon. Huawei GR5 Mini has Kirin 650 SoC. It has two quad-core sets where one set is clocked at 1.7 GHz and the next one is clocked at 2 GHz. The company claims the new Kirin is better than the processor of its predecessor.
The new processor is also efficient and can save a good amount of battery. Thus the device runs well enough for a day to two with minimal to moderate usage. There is also 16 GB onboard storage with external SD card support up to 128 GB. Now days most of new smartphones support 128 GB SD card. This is enough to store lots of photos, music, and files.
Screen and Cameras
Huawei GR5 Mini has a standard 5.2” LCD screen with 1080p Full HD resolution. Full HD is very smart and having high resolution on small devices is quite enjoyable while watching movies and videos. So it is highly appreciated that Huawei is providing high-resolution screens on upper-budget smartphones.

The selfie camera of 8 MP is situated right above the screen on the front side. It can take videos at 1080×1920 resolution and also shoot high-res photos with lots of details. Therefore it is a good option for selfie lovers, bloggers, and people who do video chat or conferencing.
The camera department on the back side is holding a 13 MP main sensor. This main camera is also capable of recording Full HD videos at 30 fps and capturing higher-resolution photos. The 13 MP camera can take well-lit and highly detailed photos in the daytime and it can also take good enough photos at night time.
GR5 Mini packs a great set of powerful hardware and features. For example, it has a new fingerprint scanner named ‘Fingerprint Scanner V2.0’ for security. The fingerprint scanner is a very interesting feature for youth and the new generation. They are demanding these types of features. The print sensor is at the back, just below the camera modules. It has many other features associated with it.
As 4G is the future in Nepal, GR5 Mini also has 4G Network support. This means the Huawei GR5 Mini is future-ready with its 4G support, large battery, FHD screen, octa-core processor, fingerprint sensor, biometric security, and latest software.
In an overall sense, Huawei GR5 Mini is a really powerful, beautiful, and efficient phone. It has good potential but a lot of tough competitors. The Xiaomi Mi 4 and Redmi 3 Pro give Huawei GR5 some big challenges. The price is very similar and the specs are almost the same. Thus competition is neck to neck. Some people and reviewers are saying that if this model is priced a bit lower by observing the market, then it can sell very well. Huawei has a good and old market reputation.
