Huawei Nepal has launched the new Huawei GR5 Mini in the market. It is the updated edition of old GR5. Its price in Nepal is Rs 23500 and it is a competitor to many phones such as Galaxy J5 2016, Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro and Mi 4. Despite having bulky competition, The GR5 Mini is powerful enough to challenge many phones. It has a standard 5.2” 1080p Full HD screen and 2 GB of RAM. The processor department consists of new Kirin 650 SOC. It is an octa core processor which is composed of two quad core processors. One set is clocked at 1.7 GHz and next one is clocked at 2 GHz. The company claims it to be better than the processor of its predecessor.

There is 16 GB on-board storage and external SD card support up to 128 GB. Now days most of the new smartphones support 128 GB SD card. The camera department is holding a 13 MP main camera and 8 MP front camera. Both camera are capable of taking videos of 1920×1080 resolution. It is sure that users can record and enjoy high definition videos, pictures and rejoice old memories. 8 Mega pixel camera is certainly enough for video chat, conferencing and selfies.

Under the crispy HD screen and below the metallic back we have a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery. The device is running on latest OS Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It might get the new Nougat update soon. Its new processor is efficient and can save good battery. Thus the device runs good enough for a day to two with minimal to moderate usage.

It has a new Finger Print sensor for security and 4G Network support. Finger print scanner is a very interesting feature for youth and new generation. They are demanding these types of features. The print sensor is at the back, just below camera modules. It has many other features associated with it.


This is really powerful, beautiful and efficient phone in total. Its has a good potential but a lot of tough competitors. The Xiaomi Mi 4 and Redmi 3 Pro gives Huawei GR5 some big challenges. The price is very similar and the specs got neck to neck.
