Few months ago Huawei launched its 2016 flagship smartphone Huawei P9 in Nepal. On the verge and auspicious occasion of Dashian, they have launched the Huawei P9 Lite. It is the latest iteration of the big brother. This new Lite is as premium as its bigger version as it should be. The MRP of Huawei P9 Lite is Rs 31999.
Design, build and quality of this new smartphone is premium and high. It is built with metal frame and metal chassis which provides elongated strength and durability. The P9 Lite comes with a 5.2” IPS LCD screen with resolution of 1080×1920. Display is powered by the Mali-T830MP2 GPU and filled with 424 pixels per inch.
The processor is Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 650 Octa Core chipset. Processor consists of two quad core sets. One part is 2.5 GHz and next one is clocked at 1.8 GHz. Architecture of both core partition is Cortex A-53. It holds 3 GB RAM and 16 GB on-board memory. Micro SD cards support up to 128 GB is available to expand the storage.
At the camera department we see a change that we didn’t expect. Company dropped the dual lens in the P9 Lite revision. There is only single 13 Megapixel Leica camera at the back. At the front, there is a 8 MP sensor for capturing wide, bright and crispy images. Aperture of both cameras are f/2.0 and they are capable of recording 1080p videos and very high resolution images. There is no slow motion video recording facility this time. Original dual lens camera of the Huawei P9 is one of the camera in smartphone territory.
Summary and View
It is a 4G capable smartphone with dual SIM support and fingerprint sensor at the back. The P9 Lite does include NFC, FM Radio, Accelerometer and Compass. Many good high end phone don’t have FM and we take it as a downside. A smartphone should have such basic features like radio and headphone jack!
It is the lesser version of the P9 so there are some trims in many places. There is no Gorilla Glass this time so it is more vulnerable to scratches. Company should have provided protective coating at this price range.
