Display and Design
The Huawei Y6p has a 6.3″ IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution at 720×1600. Most entry-level phones have HD+ resolution, which is quite common. On top, there is a U-shape dewdrop notch. This notch holds the selfie cameras. The whole body of the phone is made up of plastics, and it has curved edges at all sides. Y6p has a more rectangular form factor, but it encompasses the curved pretty well. It comes in three colors which are Black, Green, and Purple. The colors look a bit shiny and attractive with little gradient.

Processor, Memory and Battery
Under the hood, there is an Helio P22 processor that comes with eight Cortex-A53 sets. This SoC was launched in 2018, and still, a few new phones use it. The chipset comes with various technologies like MediaTek CorePilot, MediaTek’s Imagiq suite, and NeuroPilot. The CorePilot helps to manage power, resources and improve performance. This chip is paired with 3 GB RAM as base memory and 128 GB storage. In Nepal, Huawei is only selling the 4/64 GB variant of the Huawei Y6p.
According to the company website, this phone is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with a rated capacity of 4900 mAh. There is also support for 10W charging. The company website states that this battery can power the phone for 20 hours 4G web surfing, 32 hours video playback, and 36 hours 4G calling. On top of that, there is a special reverse charging feature which helps to share power using data cable. Using this, we can charge other small gadgets or other phones.
Camera
The Huawei Y6p has three cameras on the rear side. This includes a 13 MP f/1.8 main camera, 5 MP f/2.2 ultrawide module with 120˚ field of view, and 2 MP depth sensing module. The rear camera setup can take standard high resolution photos and 1920×1080 videos. On the front side, there is an 8 MP selfie beauty camera that captures portrait photos and videos. This is a normal type of sensor that we find in many smartphones of this range.
Features and Software
On the backside of the phone, we get a fingerprint scanner. There is Bluetooth 5, wireless FM, and micro SD card support. Unlike other models like Huawei Y8p, the Y6p has support for the normal SD card. There is no special thing, such as an NM card, so you easily expand the 64 GB storage.
Out of the box, Huawei Y6p is running with EMUI 10.1, which is based on Android 10. There is no Google services like Play Store, Gmail, etc. So there is Huawei Mobile Services and App Gallery. You can download applications from App Gallery and also sideload them. But it is not every ordinary user’s cup of tea. The app collection is growing at a decent pace. But still, it needs support from other app developers to make it a complete replacement of GMS.

Impressions
The Huawei Y6p is a normal entry-level smartphone with decent hardware. The Helio P22 chip is common, and it can give a good day-to-day performance. But the company should have gone with a newer and faster processor like the G series. However, 4 GB RAM and 5000 mAh battery is a good combination of hardware. The triple cameras on the rear side are normal, and they have pretty standard features. In overall look and specification, the Huawei Y6p is a decent phone, with good cameras and mediocre hardware.
