Chinese electronics leader Huawei has a lot to offer this year and Huawei Y9 is their new offer. They are changing the mid-range market segment swiftly with great products. Their Huawei Nova 2i was a huge hit in the market due to the camera. Now Huawei Y9 2018 is another addition to the mid-range family this year which is supposed to heat the market. The Huawei Y9 price in Nepal is Rs 25,900 and this 2018 device has quite a lot to offer with its dual cameras on both sides.
Huawei Y9 (2018) has new features to compete with competitors. For example, there is a tall 18:9 aspect ratio screen which the company is calling ‘Full View display‘. Then there are dual cameras on both the front and back sides. This is a very interesting thing because dual cameras have just started at the back side and this is quite an achievement to have dual cameras on the front sides. Design and Build
Huawei Y9 has a solid metal unibody construction all around. It has 157.2 x 75.3 x 7.9 mm dimension and 170g weight which is a slim profile. On the back there are dual cameras at top and fingerprint scanner at the center. The antenna lines are designed at top and bottom of the back which looks pretty neat. The front side has the LCD screen with Huawei branding on the chin or bottom and dual cameras at the top or forehead along with earpiece and sensors. In regards to the button, the right side has both volume rockers and a power button. Then at the bottom, there is a USB port, speaker grill, and headphone jack.
Core Internal Hardware
Under the big display, the chest of Huawei Y9 (2018) hosts HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC with an octa-core processor. It consists of one 2.36 GHz quad-core and the next 1.7 GHz LP quad-core sets. In terms of memory and storage, the company is offering 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage models to Nepali consumers at first. There is 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage model available as well but for other regions but not Nepal. However, Huawei Y9 can support SD cards up to 256 GB SD for expansion purposes.
For network, it has dual SIM support with 4G network support as well. For battery, there is a 4000 mAh battery which is pretty impressive. This is a good or decent size for a smartphone that has such a screen and processor. For software, Y9 2018 is running on Android Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top.

Display and Cameras
Huawei Y9 (2018) features a 5.93” IPS LCD with 1080×2160 screen resolution. The company is calling it ‘Full View display’ which is an 18:9 aspect ratio. This is a new trending tall aspect ratio that many companies are now using. It is beautiful and as the bezels are reduced the screen real estate is also increased which is beneficial.
Coming to the prime attraction we have a total of 4 cameras in this phone. Two at the back side and two at the front side. The back side has one 16 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and one 2 MP camera with PDAF. Similarly, the front side has a 13 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and another 2 MP sensor. The dual cameras or mainly the additional 2 MP camera help the phone to get a better depth of field blur effect in photos. Cameras on both sides can record maximum FHD videos 1920x1080p at 30 fps.
Impressions and Analysis
Huawei Y9 has a nice-looking design with a tall display and thin bezels. As regular, the fingerprint sensor is at the back of the phone which is good because biometrics is a necessity now. If we look at the price, this phone is in a high-competition price range. In a simple overview, Huawei Y9 (2018) shows a lot of power packed inside it. It has all the specs that should be in the phone of this price range. The camera department also shows a lot of promise and power as well.
