On Magh 22nd of 2073 B.S., Nepal Telecom celebrated its 13th anniversary. As expected, NTC’s 13th anniversary has brought lots of bonus offers, new services, and upgrades. Some of the most important news is that the 4G service is finally available for prepaid users. Another most awaited decision of upgrading ADSL Bandwidth has also been proposed. NTC is also offering many data packs, recharge bonuses, and many other offers in this NTC 13th anniversary.
Almost every year, NTC celebrates its anniversary and they bring out new offers for customers. So this year on its 13th anniversary, Nepal Telecom has a bunch of offers for its customers. In summary, there is an ADSL speed increase announcement. Then there is news of the start of the 4G service for prepaid users. Then there are bonus mobile data, free CRBT, and special packages.
NTC 13th Anniversary Offer, Schemes Details
Nepal Telecom celebrated its anniversary on 4 February 2017 A.D. or Magh 22, 2073 B.S. The program happened at office premises with the presence of government officials, officers, and NTC staff. The company announced quite a number of scenes, offers, and packages for its Nepali customers. All the important details of the schemes are given below.
ADSL Bandwidth Increase
For me personally, this is one of the most significant and most awaited upgrades. Just like me, every ADSL user of Nepal must be happy with this NTC 13th anniversary offer. NTC ADSL speed hasn’t been revised for more than 6 years. The company kept the price the same but increased speed for all unlimited service consumers. Therefore the 192 Kbps service is being upgraded to 256 Kbps, 384 Kbps is being upgraded to 512 Kbps, and the previous 512 Kbps is being upgraded to 768 Kbps. New plans come to action from Falgun 1st 2073.

It is still not competitive with the tariffs of private companies but this is still better than nothing. Still, the number of ADSL users is higher than any other ISP and it is due to the large penetration of PSTN or copper wire network all across Nepal. 4G Service Initiation
A few weeks back, Nepal Telecom started 4G only for its postpaid service users. However starting from today, every GSM service user can enjoy 4G service. The 4G service coverage is limited but where it is available, people can use it for free. NTC 13th anniversary is also giving promotional data for 4 days. People can enjoy free 100 MB of data per day. Dial *444# to activate 4G service and data packs.
Older 3G SIM cards cant use 4G so people need to get a new SIM. People with older SIM cards can upgrade to a new 4G SIM by going to the nearest Nepal Telecom office. Users will be provided with a new SIM card but with the same number. Therefore the number remains the same and the service is upgraded.
Data Offers
There are already lots of data packages from NTC but for the first time, NTC is offering Facebook Data Pack. It is a special social media pack just made for Facebook. In order to purchase the FB data pack, Type ‘facebook‘ and send it to 1415 for activation. After activation, users can enjoy 100 MB of Facebook data at Rs 20 with 5 days validity. This offer is valid from the 22nd Magh to the 7th of Falgun.

NTC 13th anniversary offers also other data schemes where GSM users can enjoy cheaper data at night and day. NTC GSM customers can buy a 500 MB night data pack at Rs 40 and 1200 MB at Rs 85. The regular data package includes bonus data. For CDMA users the special CDMA Data pack includes 200 MB at Rs 75 with the same amount of bonus. The 500 MB pack of Rs 175 also packs the same benefit. The cost of the same size day data pack for GSM users is Rs 130 and Rs 300 respectively.

NTC 13th anniversary just doesn’t end with mobile data, 4G, and ADSL. It has many more things such as free calls, FTTH, CRBT, and IPTV. Firstly, PSTN landline users are getting 25 free calls in this anniversary offer. Then for mobile customers, there is free CRBT. People can enjoy free CRBT service for the next 10 days.
NTC is also expanding its service in other departments like lease line service. The organization announced work on IPTV and VoD service a few years ago but work seems nowhere near. We would surely love to see development on that part. IPTV and HD Channels are in demand and we believe Nepal Telecom can provide excellent packages with their infrastructure.
Nepal Telcom actually has FTTH which can support landline PSTN service and internet. The future is optical fiber so they should now work on providing PSTN, high bandwidth internet, and IPTV in the same medium. It is also known as triple play in many countries.
