Nepal Telecom celebrated its 13th Anniversary on Magh 22nd. As expected, they are offering lots of bonus, new services and upgrades. Finally 4G service is available for prepaid users also. The most awaited decision of upgrading ADSL Bandwidth has also been proposed. The company is also offering many data packs, recharge bonus and many other offers.
ADSL Bandwidth Increase: For us this is one of the biggest and most awaited upgrade. NTC ADSL speed hasn’t been revised since more than 6 years. The company is keeping the price same and increasing speed for all unlimited service consumers. Still, the number of ADSL users is higher than any other ISP.
The 192 Kbps service is being upgraded to 256 Kbps, 384 Kbps to 512 Kbps and previous 512 Kbps to 768 Kbps. This plan is coming to action from Falgun 1st 2073. It is still not competitive with tariff of private companies but still better than nothing.
4G Service Initiation: Few weeks back, Nepal Telecom started 4G for Post paid users only. Starting from today, every GSM service user can enjoy 4G service. They are also giving promotional data for 4 days. People can enjoy free 100 MB data per day. Dial *444# to activate 4G service and data packs.
People with older SIM card need to upgrade to new USIM by going to the office. Users will be provided with new SIM card of same number.
Data Offers: There are already lots of data package from NTC. For the first time, NTC is offering Facebook Data Pack. Type ‘facebook‘ and send to 1415 for activation. Users can enjoy 100 MB of Facebook data at Rs 20 with 5 days validity. This offer is valid from 22nd Magh to 7th of Falgun.
GSM users can enjoy cheaper data at night and day. NTC GSM consumers can buy 500 MB night data pack at Rs 40 and 1200 MB at Rs 85. Regular data package includes bonus data. CDMA Data pack includes 200 MB at Rs 75 with same amount of bonus. The 500 MB pack of Rs 175 also packs same benefit. Cost of same size day data pack for GSM users are Rs 130 and Rs 300 respectively.

PSTN Landline users are getting free 25 calls. Customers can also enjoy free RBT service for next 10 days. NTC is also expanding its service in other departments like lease line service. They announced work on IPTV and VOD service but seems nowhere near. We would surely love to see development on that part.
IPTV, HD Channels are in demand and we believe Nepal telecom can provide excelled package with their infrastructure. They have FTTH which can support Landline PSTN service. The future is optical fiber so they should now work on providing PSTN, high bandwidth internet, IPTV in same medium.
