Oppo Nepal launched the A83 (2018) just few months after original A83 (2017) came to market. This is one of the fastest refresh launch yet. Also Nepal is among top countries to get the launch so soon. Oppo A83 (2018) is a second generation update of its predecessor. It is launching at a bit higher price than original one. The official Oppo A83 2018 price in Nepal is Rs 27,490. It is also a selfie centered phone with bigger display targeted to youth.
Let us talk about the updates on hardware and build of new A83. At the forefront, it packs a 5.7” TFT LCD with 720×1440 screen resolution. This is a tall 18:9 aspect ratio which looks good and has no notch. Many people don’t like notch but love big screen so Oppo A83 2018 has got it. On the internal side, there is an 2.5 GHz octa core processor on Mediatek Helio P23 chipset.
The GPU is Mali G71 MP2 and there are many variants according to storage and memory. Nepali market is getting Oppo A83 2018 with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. It is good to see companies providing higher RAM these days. Company’s international site indicates that there are actually three models. This includes handsets with 2, 3 and 4 GB RAM with 16, 32 and 64 GB on board storage respectively.
As company states this phone as Selfie centered, we have a 8 MP f/2.2 sensor up front. At the back the A83 (2018) has 13 MP f/2.2 sensor. So there is no dual camera or anything but Oppo has some tricks up its sleeves. It features Facial unlock which uses the front camera. The new Oppo A83 uses AI for enhancing photos using new beauty recognition technology.
There is a new very interesting “Ultra-HD” mode for back camera. It is not for 4k video recording but it rather captures very resolution 50 MP photos. This is done by taking multiple shots and stitching them to render a very high res result. New A83 packs a 3180 mAh battery inside. The battery should suffice for a day with moderate use.
Oppo A83 2018 is running on Android 7.1 with ColorOS 3.2 on top. The phone supports dual SIM and an external micro SD card. Comparing the hardware specs with the predecessor, there is too little difference. The hardware are almost completely same except RAM and storage. The new Oppo A83 (2018) is a slightly upgraded successor with higher memory and double storage so this can be a good reason to think this over the last years model.
