POCO has made a comeback to Nepal after a long time. They launched the Poco F1 back in 2018, and since then, there has been no official phone launch. People who wanted Poco smartphones ordered mainly from India and brought it through personal or grey channel means. This time the company has made an official entry with two new phones. These are Poco M2 and Poco C3. Before, the brand was under Xiaomi, but now it is an independent brand. However, Mi Nepal and the same distributor are looking after it in the Nepali market. In this article, we are specifically discussing Poco M2.
Both Poco M2 and Poco C3 are entry-level smartphones. They come with new Helio G series processor, massive 5000 mAh battery, big screen, and multiple cameras. Both are in their own league, and they are very similar to the Xiaomi counterparts. The launch of these new phones in the market gives more options to the Nepali users. Now, we hope that the company will launch other powerful phones in the market as well. People really like Poco smartphones for their price to value ratio. The OS is smooth, the hardware is always good, and the designs are also attractive. This is why many people prefer these over Mi products.

Core Hardware
The Poco M2 comes with an Helio G80 octa-core processor with 6 GB RAM. The G80 is a basic entry-level Mediatek chip made for daily work, games, and new feature set. The G series is quite famous for its price to performance ratio. There is MediaTek HyperEngine Game Technology that manages the resources of the phone to provide better performance. The engine manages CPU, GPU, battery, and thermals to give a smoother experience and good gameplay. Helio G80 also has AI to assist for picture improvement and NeuroPilot.
Poco M2 has 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. In Nepal, the company is launching 64 GB at the initial stage. Inside we can also find a 5000 mAh battery with 18W charging. It is a perfect size of battery for a phone of this range. Big battery and fast charging are really important these days. The M2 also has a fingerprint scanner on the back for biometrics. A rear scanner is much easier to reach and fast as well.
Display and Camera
The front side of the phone comes with a 6.53″ LCD screen and FHD+ resolution. There is Gorilla Glass 3 protection, which is quite impressive. We rarely see Gorilla Glass on budget smartphones. This is a really good thing to have. On the top side of the screen, there is a waterdrop notch with an 8 MP selfie camera. This camera is capable of recording 1920×1080 videos at 30 fps and taking decent photos. There are modes built-in for more control and better results.
On the rear side of the phone, we get four cameras in total. The primary one is a 13 MP sensor, the secondary one is an 8 MP ultrawide with 118 degrees field of view, the third one is a 5 MP macro sensor, and the fourth one is a 2 MP depth sensor. This is a good set of cameras, and they are placed at the center of the backside in a vertical position. The fingerprint sensor is just below it. We can take good photos with these camera modules because there are ultrawide and depth cameras. It can record videos at 1920×1080 at 30 fps, which is standard.
Other Features and Impressions
The Poco M2 is a quite powerful smartphone with an Helio G80 processor, 6 GB RAM, and 64 GB base storage. There is also support for the SD card to expand the storage. It is really nice to have a big screen with a small notch, FHD+ resolution, and Gorilla Glass on top. The phone also has a nano-coating to prevent accidental splashes. A big screen, 5000 mAh battery, decent internals make Poco M2 a good option in the market. If you are in this budget, it is a phone to consider. We have to consider that there is Xiaomi Redmi 9 in the market at the same price range. All other things are similar, but in M2, we get more RAM and storage. So this is a better option.
