Slim Design and Solid Build
As a mid-range phone of high standards, Samsung Galaxy A7 comes with an outstanding build. It has an Aluminium chassis, a metal unibody design, and a slim profile. It has a dimension of 151 x 76.2 mm and 6.3 mm thickness. This makes it the slimmest Galaxy phone to this date. So it is a very interesting device because it packs juicy hardware set in a very small package. By size, we meant thickness and not other dimensions. In terms of build, there is a metal frame with chamfered edges and rounded corners. Very few phone manufacturers manage to get this kind of design.
Core Internals
Samsung Galaxy A7 comes in two variants in the international market. One variant comes with the company’s own Exynos 5430 chipset while the other one comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615. Both the Exynos 5430 and Snapdragon 615 are eight-core processors. It is a huge jump from the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 in terms of processing power.
In terms of memory, there is 2 GB RAM which is as same as Galaxy S5 and Galaxy A5. The onboard storage is 16 GB and there is also support for up to 64 GB external SD card. The memory and storage are sufficient for this type of phone because it has power and expansion capability. For power, the Samsung Galaxy A7 has a 2600 mAh battery. This is bigger than A5 but smaller than the battery on E7. It can be taken as one sacrifice for a slim body. Still, there are modes like Power saving mode and Ultra Power saving mode that help to elongate battery life.
The performance and power of the A7 are better because of the octa-core processor and 2 GB RAM combination. There is a good difference between the performance of a 4-core processor and an 8-core processor. Galaxy A7 doesn’t have much RAM compared to other cheaper phones out there but we also have to notice that the previous flagship Galaxy S5 also has the same amount of 2 GB RAM.
In terms of features, the A7 comes with security such as “My Knox“. It provides high-level security and secure space for business and professional users. It is very useful for corporate users who need top-level digital security. Knox is recognized and trusted by many digital IT security firms.
Display and Camera
Samsung Galaxy A7 offers a big 5.5” Super AMOLED screen with Full HD 1080×1920 resolution. It gives top-level sharpness just like a flagship phone with great color production and vibrance. The big screen also gets protection from scratch and drops with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. On the front side, there is a selfie camera at the top with a 5 MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture. The camera app includes multiple modes like Animated GIF, Beauty face, Palm Selfie, voice-controlled camera, S-Voice, and more.
On the backside, the A7 has a main camera that is exactly the same as the one found in A5. This means we are getting a 13 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. This main camera can capture photos at a maximum resolution of 4128×3096. Both front and back cameras of the Galaxy A7 support FHD video recording at 1920×1080. There are modes in the camera app such as HDR, Panorama, Night, and more. These modes help to get appropriate results according to need and situation.
Impressions and Conclusion
Samsung Galaxy A7 is a very good and attractive phone in the company’s portfolio. It comes with a faster and more powerful processor. It is also paired with a good amount of 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. The device also offers a big high-resolution ALOMED display and a big battery to power it. The software is also new and the cameras are also really great. Officially the Samsung Galaxy A7 Price in Nepal is Rs 45,000 ($450).
It is available in Midnight Black, Pearl White, and Champagne Gold color options. There is an offer with a Rs 5000 cashback and a free 32 GB micro SD card. This makes the Samsung Galaxy A7 cheaper in Nepal than the Indian MRP. The starting price was very high in the Nepali grey market but it came down when A7 was released in the official white market.
If we see the price and hardware, this phone is really a no-brainer. It is a really good mobile device to have that goes head to head with many flagship phones. Galaxy A7 is truly a premium phone with some of the best hardware and design. If you need a slightly better processor and a much better camera then we suggest purchasing the older Galaxy S5 or Note 4. On the other hand, if you want a cheaper option with a big screen then you can also opt for Galaxy E7.
