Samsung Galaxy A30, A50 Launched in Nepal: Good Value in Mid Range

Samsung Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 Price in Nepal

Galaxy A series is Samsung’s mid-range lineup and it is very big. It all started with A3, A5 an A7 in  2014 but now naming scheme is changed. Almost everything is now changing and A series is redefining the portfolio. Samsung strongly wants to take back the mid-range market and increase its share. So Samsung Nepal has launched Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 in the market. These sit in mid-range section due to the price and hardware. Both are interesting phones but A50 is in its own league. The price of Galaxy A50 is Rs 33,490 for 64 GB model and the price of Galaxy A30 is Rs 28,490.

Both phones have great looking Infinity-U display. This means there is a small water drop notch at the top. The Infinity-U is a bit different from Infinity-V screen of Galaxy M20. Processor in the case of A30 is same as Galaxy M10 and M20 while the processor of A50 is a bit different. Samsung is continuing its practice to provide high-end features in A series just like previous times.

They have Gorilla Glass protection, AMOLED display, better camera and other better features. If the series are confusing we can simply put it like this. M is the entry and budget level, A is for mid-tier and S series is flagship while Note is the special flagship. Both A30 and A50 got a lot of attention during the international launch.

Specification Analysis

Both phones have the same amount of battery i.e. 4000 mAh. This is very good and we see it as an improvement. Many people used to complaint about smaller battery but now Samsung is giving a generous amount of power. We have to weigh in the fact that it needs to power such big Super AMOLED display. Samsung is using Exynos 7904 in A30 which we see in M10 and M20 as well. In comparison to the processor used in A50, the A30 is using a bit less powerful processor. Exynos 7904 is entry level octa-core chip but Exynos 9610 is better than that.

In the Galaxy A30, there is 5 MP ultrawide camera which is more meaningful. Many travelers and hobby photographers can take benefit of the ultrawide shots. Nature landscape shots, panorama come great with such cameras. In the Galaxy A50, there is 8 MP ultrawide sensor and 5 MP depth sensor. Even the phone size is similar, better camera with the A50.

Both phones also support 15W fast charging which is absolutely fantastic. Samsung is now pushing fast charging in almost every range which is great. In terms of security, Galaxy A50 is a bit fancy as it has in-display fingerprint scanner while the other one has a sensor at the back of the phone. A30 has Micro USB 2.0 while A50 has Type -C so big brother has upper hand.

Comparing both phones, we see that Galaxy A50 comes with quite better features with a bit increase in price. A30 is also a good phone but if we simply view the spec sheet, A50 makes more sense in terms of value and investment.
