Design and Build
Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has a plastic body with a flat back and glossy side rails. It has a smooth side rail with the same color as the phone. The phone’s dimensions are 159.7 x 74 x 8.1 mm and the weight is 186g. It is a compact phone with a 6.4″ screen and IP67 water plus dust resistance.
The phone has a design just like A53 or A73 and the layout of features are also similar. On the right side, the Galaxy A33 has the volume rocker and power button, then at the top, there is a SIM card plus SD card tray and secondary microphone, and finally, at the bottom, there is a USB port and speaker grill. The top and bottom speakers work together to provide stereo sound which is a good thing to have. Just like the A73 and 53, the Galaxy A33 5G also doesn’t have a headphone jack.
Internal Hardware: Processor, RAM, Battery
The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is also using Exynos 1280 processor just like the A53. This new chipset has an octa-core processor and Mali-G68 GPU. The phone is paired with 6 GB base RAM and 128 GB storage with 1 TB expansion support. A33 runs with a 5000 mAh battery which is quite standard. The battery supports 25W fast charging which is fantastic but Samsung is not providing a charger inside the box.
Therefore there is no charger or headphones inside the retail package and all you get is a USB cable with Type-C ends and a SIM ejector with some literature. Removal of chargers and 3.5mm headphone at affordable phones can be a dealbreaker for many people and it surely reduces value as well. It is important for companies to realize that flagship customers and all other customers are not the same.
For software, Samsung A33 is coming with Android 12 out of the box. It has refined One UI 4.1 with many new features. Moreover, Samsung has promised 4 years of updates on these phones. So there is no need to worry about the software part.
Display and Cameras
The Galaxy A33 5G has a 6.4″ Infinity-U Display. This is a Super AMOLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate, 1080×2400 resolution, and 411 PPI pixel density. On top of the panel, there is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection to protect against scratches and drops. The Infinity-U Display at top of the screen comes with a 13 MP selfie camera that can record 1920×1080 videos at 30 fps.
Rear side of the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has four cameras and one LED flash. At first, there is a 48 MP main camera with OIS, secondly, there is an 8 MP ultrawide, third there is a 5 MP macro camera and fourth there is a 2 MP depth sensor camera. The cameras are different compared to A53 and A73. However, this rear camera set of A33 can also take 4K UHD videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at a higher frame rate for slow motion.
