Hardware Analysis

Samsung has improved the Note lineup as they regularly do every time. There are improvements in cameras, screen, software, and S Pen related features. First of all, in the case of USA, the phones come with Snapdragon 865+ processor which is the fastest of this time. However, in the case of Nepal, we get the same Exynos 990 that was introduced with the Galaxy S20 lineup. But there are other improvements here. This year we get to base 8 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage. The new UFS 3.1 is better and faster than older UFS 3.0 found in predecessor Galaxy Note 10 models and even S20 models.

The Galaxy Note 20 has a 4300 mAh battery and Note 20 Ultra has a 4500 mAh battery. Similarly, the Ultra has a 6.9″ screen with 1440×3088 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass 7. But in the case of Note20, there is a 6.7″ screen with 1080×2400 resolution, 60 Hz screen, and Gorilla Glass 5. The back of Note20 is polycarbonate while the Ultra is made of Gorilla Glass Victus. These are major differences in the build and internals of the phone. There are differences in cameras as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has 3 back cameras. Main one is a 108 MP wide-angle sensor with OIS, secondary is 12 MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS and 5X optical zoom. The third one is 12 MP ultrawide with a 120˚ field of view. Galaxy Note 20 also has three cameras at back but they are different. The Main is 12 MP wide-angle, the second one is 12 MP ultrawide, and third one is 64 MP camera with OIS. Both devices have 10 MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. These devices can record 8K videos from the rear camera set and 4K 60 fps with the front camera.

Productivity Features, DeX, S Pen And Notes

This time Samsung has improved DeX further with OneUI 2.5. There is a new DeX wireless feature that runs with TV sets with Miracast enabled. The DeX is already improved with OneUI 2.1 and this time it has been further polished. Samsung Notes also have many features like handwriting to text conversion, voice memo. The new voice memo is quite useful because we can write down notes and parallelly narrate or record a voice. This is fantastic because in the future we can play the voice note and it simultaneously highlights the text written at that time. Another good feature is that we can now export Notes as doc or pdf file. These are really useful Note features.

The S Pen comes with a few new features this time. It has all previous features like gestures, Bluetooth LE, and Anywhere actions. There are gestures that can help to take notes from anywhere on the phone, go back to the home screen, take a screenshot, and much more. One of the best improvements is reduction of latency. Now the new Note 20 smartphones have S Pen with 9 ms latency. This means the writing seems even realistic and the delay is less between input and feedback.

There are many good features and improvements in both of these devices. All of these are important and help these to be top flagship smartphones. Samsung Nepal has done right with the cost and model this time. 5G is not available and in Nepal and it will take time to come. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra price in Nepal is reasonable because it has 8 GB RAM and is 4G only. The case with Galaxy Note 20 is also the same. On top of the good pricing, the offers and discounts of pre-booking add more value. In our view getting free Galaxy Buds + is a sensible decision in pre-order offer.
