Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime vs On7Pro

Samsung’s On series is very famous model in Asia. This series is actually meant for the Online market. Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 is online exclusive handset for now. There are other phones in this series with pretty similar names. So we are comparing the closest phones to this new model. We are also comparing Galaxy On7 Pro and original model from 2015.

In our previous meeting with the company. We asked about the specialty of this series. The officials replied that, this series was actually made for sales in Online only. The people loved it very much and demand grew heavily. Thus the company launched it in offline traditional market as well. The case is similar with C series which was meant for China but due to demand came to other regions as well.

The Korean conglomerate usually updates the series and add phones with same names usually. There can be many version like Pro, Prime and model with launch year at last. Each smartphone has its unique name and features. These can be confusing for some people but the company’s interventions seems to be updating the lineup.

Whatever the company’s plan may be, ours is to tell and advice people about the products. Samsung started its 2018 with launch of Galaxy A8 2018, On7 Prime and Galaxy J2 Pro (2018). We have already compared new Galaxy A8+ and older A8 models in past article. This time to help our readers choose best phone in market, we are going to compare Galaxy On7 Prime with On7 Pro and the 2015 On7.

To simply illustrate the differences, we will compare all the hardware specification of these phones in tabular format.

In the comparison between predecessors Galaxy On7 Pro vs Galaxy On7 2015 we can see that there is actually no change or upgrade in many aspects. The processor, screen, camera and battery are same. Key improvements is the increase in RAM to 2 GB and doubling of internal storage on On7 Pro in 2016. This also includes newer software and improved UI.

Things change in 2018. New Galaxy On7 Prime features updated 1080p Full HD TFT screen and 2.5D glass. It now holds 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage which is 2018 standard. The processor is also double power with Exynos SOC and octa core processor. Battery size is also increased to 3300 mAh. Phone runs on newer OS and UI.

Camera department has also taken a good leap. The rear optics have same pixel count but wider aperture at f/1.9. The same sensor is at front side which is more than double improvement from other competitors. This gives the new phones far better results than previous On7 phones. Both photos and videos come out really nice with max 1080p video shooting capability. New On7 Prime now features faster fingerprint scanner and 4G LTE from both SIMs.

Clearly we can see there are very good improvements in the newer Galaxy On7 Prime compared to older On7 phones. Samsung is known for its signature AMOLED but they are using TFT in all phones here. Use of SAMOLED would have made this new mobile much better. We appreciate the increase of RAM ans storage.

The processor and battery life are all very good on On7 Prime with newer OS. Optics improvement is also very appreciable work from Samsung. Currently we would advice you to take a look at other options if you have budget around older On7 models. In our view buying latest Prime model makes better sense and provides good value as long as price are in customer’s budget and is in reasonable range.
