Samsung Nepal has refreshed its Tablet lineup in Nepal with new Tab A 2017. This tablet debuted in September but it is coming here now. Current price of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 in Nepal is Rs 28,990. Samsung has A series for both smartphone and Tablet segments. This is a mid range tablet from company with refined specs and design.

Same as smartphone, there are three segments in Samsung Tablet portfolio. J series is entry level, A is mid range and S is flagship. This new Tab A is update from last year’s tablet. Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2018 features 8” IPS LCD screen with 800×1280. This is slightly higher than HD resolution. Screen size is 1” bigger than last year’s predecessor.

Beneath the big display, it packs a Snapdragon 425 SOC with 1.4 GHz quad core processor and 2 GB RAM. We get 16 GB in built storage and micro SD card support up to 256 GB. Back side holds 8 MP f/1.9 camera and front side hold 5 MP camera. The rear camera can shoot 1080p Full HD videos. It can also take pretty nice photos in low light and great photos at day. We are just considering the camera power in context of a tablet.


The Tab A 2017 is currently on Android 7.1 but will be updated t Oreo in near future. Inside we get 5000 mAh non-removable battery. It is good size battery and should push it easily for a day with medium usages. Samsung claims 14 hours performance for media consumption with ease.

Features and Impression

Galaxy Tab A is now featuring Bixby Home. It is new assistant service from Samsung which is getting better with each iteration. People can enable Kids Mode for separate space for their kids to enjoy digital learning and entertainment. Blue Light filter is also baked in which helps eyes for reading e-books and surging at night.

Game launcher is also provided as it is meant for gaming and entertainment. Samsung Flow, Smart View are some new integration for their ecosystem. New Galaxy Tab A 2017 features full metal premium body at 364 gm. It is a bit on heavier side so due to build and battery.

The new big screen is great for watching movies, playing games, reading e-books and browsing internet. Although as mid range from Samsung, not having an OLED panel and octa core processor are big miss. Its big battery will be able to provide juice easily for one with mid level use. New features and software upgrades make experience better. Overall, this is a good refresh in Samsung’s lineup and for Nepali market.
