The Mi 5 is flagship phone that can compete with many other high end and expensive mobiles of other companies. To get a better overview of the gadget, lets see what it packs inside it.
The major specs of the phone are tabulated below. We had the privilege of using the phone before the launch in a bloggers meet with Vatsal Impex.
|Processor||Snapdragon 820″ Quad Core”|
|RAM||3 GB DDR4|
|Internal Storage||32 GB UFS|
|OS||Android 6.0 Marshmallow|
|Camera||16 MP Front/ 4 MP Secondary|
Hardware: The Xiaomi Mi 5 consists of IPS LCD display and under that we have the latest Snapdragon processor with a beefy new GPU. The edition that comes to Nepal is standard which means no 4 GB RAM or 128 GB. The ceramic or Pro version aren’t coming for this time. There is no external storage or SD card option so you will have to satisfy at 32 GB because 64 GB isn’t coming to Nepal.
The quad core processor consists of two dual core Kyro processors, one clocked at 1.8 GHz and another at 1.36 GHz. The phone is powered by a sealed in 3000 mAh battery which is sufficient for a gadget of this specification.
Design and Built: The design this time is super premium due to the curved back and metallic glassy finish. The bezel is very thin which makes the display look big and immersive. At front there are back lit soft keys and a finger print scanner as well. USB Type C has been implemented and we can get IR blaster with headphone jack at top. The buttons are brilliantly tactile, UI and animation are also buttery smooth. Quick Charge 3.0 support is quite interesting feature and helpful too.
For us camera is very important because no matter what anyone says, better camera equals better phone. Mi 5 has 16 MP primary back sensor with 4 MP Ultra Pixel front secondary shooter which ultimately takes great photos at faster rate. The aperture size is still f/2.0 which means low light photography is good but not quite good as the S7 or even S6. The flash is dual tone for better color production and OIS is present to compensate for shaky conditions.
For under Rs 50000, Mi 5 is a very good option if you want a cool looking phone and powerful camera. The only thing we found pinching here is processor and storage option. Within this price range many companies are giving octa-core processor, if Mi5 only had such processor and a 64 GB model available, it would have been the perfect phone for this range. Anyway, Xiaomi’s MIUI gives a very new experience to many android users. We wish to see more better products soon.
