Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual Models

Xiaomi Redmi 8A was launched last year with a single camera but now the company has updated it. They have launched the new Redmi 8A Dual with two backside cameras. Almost all of the specifications of this new phone are the same except for the camera and build texture. This new device has Aura XGrip design instead of glossy plastic. It makes it less slippery and hence collects fewer fingerprints. The price of Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual in Nepal is Rs 12,999 on all online and offline retail platforms.

Xiaomi Nepal is calling this phone as “Desh ko Dumdaar Smartphone”. This is an entry-level phone and it targets the budget range market. Most phones in this price tag don’t offer much but Xiaomi knows what to cater. Mi phones are one of the best for the budget category. And this time Redmi 8A dual is here to cater to that market.

The Redmi 8A was launched last year and this new Dual version is also the same with very fewer changes. It has come in a short interval because its aim is to update the option and replace it. People can now get a better option for the same budget. The main improvement of this iteration is the camera and texture. Core specs are still the same but they are still quite good for the price.

If we see this phone alone and don’t compare it to the predecessor, we see a good set of specs. There is a big 6.22 inches IPS screen with HD+ resolution. It has a peak brightness of 400 nits which is quite extraordinary for such budget phones. The screen is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 which is even more interesting. The processor on the inside is Snapdragon 439 which has 8 core is total. This is made up of two quad-core sets of 1.95 GHz and 1.45 GHz.

Old Redmi 8A was limited at 2 GB RAM while this new Dual model has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. There is a 2/32 GB model as well but in Nepal, we are getting 3/32 GB at first. For storage, there is support for one external memory card up to 512 GB. In the case of the battery, it has got a huge 5000 mAh battery with fast charge support. This is very good for such a low price smartphone.

Camera and special features

As the name says dual, it is to represent two cameras at the backside. In the previous models, there was just 12 Megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture. This time there is one 13 MP and one 2 MP camera. The first main one is the primary wide-angle and the new small 2 MP one is for depth. This setup has Mi’s software features such as AI Portrait mode and scene detection. The front camera is normal 8 MP with f/2.0 aperture that has AI face unlock.

The Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual has a new texture which is called Aura XGrip and it has a ribbed structure. In Nepal, we can get this phone in Midnight Grey, Sea Blue, and Sky White color. This gives a better grip and reduces fingerprint plus scratches. However, if you are going to put a case as any normal person, it doesn’t matter. The thing that matters is P2i splash-proof nano-coating. USB Type C is also one of the things that matter. Looking back a few years ago, I can really see the difference in the power of phones. Phones have gotten very powerful and cheap.

As there is a huge battery, Xiaomi is providing reverse charging feature which allows you to use your phone as power bank. This shows the immense power of this phone and confidence of quality. It has almost every feature but it just lack a fingerprint scanner. If they make it up for that, it is wholesome. For us, we take this as a fresh model with good specs and very good features for the price point. Therefore this budget, we recommend giving this device a good thought.
