Recently, ZTE started its journey in Nepal by launching a few smartphones. This debut included the launch of ZTE Blade S6, Blade D2, and D3. We have discussed about Blade S6 in another article so we shall discuss Blade D3 and Blade D2 here. Both of the ZTE Blade D series smartphones are basic entry-level budget phones which come under the $100 price category. These are important models as they cater to starters and people who have just a small budget. People who are entering the Android smartphone world should be given a good experience to get their trust.
In the smartphone market, the $100 range or Rs 10,000 mark is starting level. People who buy at this budget are budget-conscious buyers who either have a small budget or want a secondary phone. Many students also purchase smartphones of this price range as they are also budget-restricted. This is why we believe that companies must try to give the best experience they can with the basic phone. However, that is hard because of price and hardware limitations. So it is important to choose wisely in this price range.

This handset comes with a 5″ LCD screen, HD 720p resolution with IPS technology. Having HD resolution and a 5″ screen at this price is pretty good because till last year we only had 480p at this price range. Furthermore, it has a 1 GHz Mediatek processor, 1 GB RAM, base storage of 8 GB, and a 2400 mAh battery. This is a very common hardware combination that we see in smartphones of this price segment. The storage can be small at 8 GB so it can be expanded up to 64 GB by using a micro SD Card as well.
Even though it is a budget device, ZTE Blade D3 has a 13 MP camera at the back with autofocus. This allows the phone to shoot 1920x1080p FHD videos and take sharp still photographs. On the front side, there is an 8 MP selfie camera which can also take HD 720p videos and decent selfies. Many smartphones which are more expensive than Blade D3 also sometimes don’t have an 8 MP front camera. So this is definitely good.

Being a budget device, ZTE Blade D2 provides a 5” screen with HD 720p resolution. We appreciate both D2 and D3 providing good screens at a lower price tag. Considering the price of Blade D2, it is a powerhouse that consists of a 1.3 GHz Mediatek processor, 1GB RAM, 8 GB storage, and a huge 4000 mAh battery. The phone also supports the expansion of storage up to 64 GB with help of a micro SD card. As budget devices have less flash storage, getting a good size memory card is better to save your photos, files, music, and documents.
On the back side, we get an 8 MP camera that can do HD video recording. Similarly, on the front side, there is a 5 MP camera for video calls and selfies. This camera set isn’t that powerful but for the price, it is acceptable. Both cameras do just a fine job at their capacity. The main thing that makes the ZTE Blade D2 one of the best devices at this price is the giant battery which can provide a longer screen on time.
Which one to Buy?
If you are considering purchasing a smartphone at this price then you have many options. If we see various mobile phone prices in Nepal then we can see quite a lot of options. At this budget, we can get models from other brands but ZTE has compelling offers here too.
At the Rs 10,000 budget, we are really liking the ZTE Blade D2 because it has a good set of features which include an HD resolution screen, quad-core processor, higher memory card support, and 4000 mAh battery. Then at a slightly higher budget, ZTE Blade D3 is offering an HD resolution screen, and high pixel count cameras on both front and back. The features are hardware that both devices offer are very reasonable and attractive so these are definitely good options for the budget.
