About one year ago, the original Xiaomi Mi Mix was launched. Now, Mi Nepal has launched the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. This phone came out more than 6 months ago internationally however it is making its way to Nepal now. Vatsal Impex also talked about its launch in October with us. So finally after a long wait, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is here in Nepal. It is better, improved, and cheaper than its predecessor. The official Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 price in Nepal is Rs 63,999. This puts the phone in a very attractive and competitive region.
The new Mi Mix 2 is a gorgeous-looking phone with a big screen and bezel-less design. It features a 5.99” screen and Mi Mix original design language. It is one of the first phones that demoed such a beautiful screen, design, and power. The Mi Mis is a truly mesmerizing smartphone with a radical design and amazing build. There is no phone that has a screen and design like this. Just taking out the phone out of pocket attracts eyes and questions.

Design and Build
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a metal rail and ceramic back body with 151.8 x 75.5 x 7.7 mm dimensions and 185g weight. Let’s talk about the front side because that is the most amazing part. The front side has a massive 5.99″ screen that flows to the top, and all the sides except the bottom. It looks ridiculously beautiful.
The bottom side has a selfie camera ticket at the bottom right corner. The earpiece is tucked in between the screen at the frame at the top. At the back, the phone has a fingerprint scanner, main camera, and LED flash. On the left side, there is a SIM card slot while the left side has a power button and a volume button.
Core Internal Hardware
Underneath the big beautiful screen of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, there is Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The chipset holds Adreno 540 GPU and octa-core CPU. One is 2.45 GHz and next is 1.9 GHz quad core processor set. Nepal is getting a 6 GB RAM model with 64 GB storage option at launch. This phone doesn’t have SD card slot which is a downside for some people. By the way, people on the countries can also enjoy 128 GB or 256 GB variant of the phone.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a 3400 mAh battery. It supports Quick Charge 3.0 which is very good. As a flagship-level phone, it packs all the sensors such as Barometer, gyrosensor, accelerometer, etc. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back of the phone below the camera. Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band WiFi are all here. It currently runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top. This is a flagship-level phone and will get future updates regularly for a certain period for sure.
Cameras and Display
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 sports an IPS LCD screen with 1080×2160 screen resolution. Gorilla Glass 4 is protecting this beautiful display which seems almost truly bezel-less. As we told you earlier, it is as beautiful as the original Xiaomi Mi Mix from last year. Just like the predecessor, the front selfie camera is at the bottom corner which is a 5 MP f/2.0 camera that records max of Full HD 1080p videos
The back side holds a 12 MP f/2.0 camera with 4-axis OIS. It can easily record videos up to 4K at 30 fps and 720p at 120 fps slow motion. Both cameras do a great job for stills and videos as intended. In our view, the inclusion of a wider aperture would have made it far better by improving low-light performance and depth of field effect.

Impression and Assay
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is a great-looking phone with a high-end processor, big battery, and lots of features. The display looks fantastic but it will require a very high level of care. It is good to see that the price is lower than the predecessor. It checks out almost all scores with some ups and downs.
At this price, there are lots of phones that compete with it. This is what makes open markets so good for public consumers. OnePlus 5T and Galaxy S8 are its top competitors and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 fits quite right in. The launch was almost half a year late in Nepal but we love Xiaomi’s approach, unique design, and choice of hardware.
Mi Mix 2 offers a pretty nice package of hardware in great design at the price. In our opinion, a little camera improvement and joining the dual-camera trend could help them a lot next time. Still, we consider this phone as a great product from the company. So if you are in the market for fancey flagship, this is it.
